Sub: Revamping of jurisdiction of Service
Tax Groups in Divisions of Service Tax
Commissionerate
Chennai by re-organizing Divisions and Groups.

It is
notified that the Divisions and Groups of Service Tax Commissionerate Chennai
are being revamped and re-organised, for better administrative convenience.
Accordingly the re-organised jurisdiction of the Divisions and Groups of
Service Tax Commissionerate Chennai are given in the Annexure to the Trade
Notice.
2. This revamping of jurisdiction will take
effect from 01.04.2008.

Consequent to
the above re organization, Location Code of Service Providers will change. In respect of certain services, location codes
are being changed on the basis of first alphabet of the Service Provider. All
the service providers are advised to mention clearly the new location code
numbers (Commissionerate / Division / Group) in all their documents especially
in the GAR-7 challans at the time of payment of Service Tax and filing of St-3
returns. The revised location codes are given in the Annexure.
4. Multiple Service Providers in the existing
Location Code are requested to switch over for the new Location Code as per the
Annexure.
5. The
service providers may contact the Assistant / Deputy Commissioners concerned in
the case of any difficulty. They may also contact the Joint
Commissioner (Tech) in the Service Tax Commissionerate at:

5. This
Trade Notice supercedes all earlier Trade Notices issued reg. jurisdiction of
Divisions and Groups of Service Tax Commissionerate Chennai.
6. All the Trade associations are requested
to inform their members and trade in general about the contents of this Notice.
