Suib: Discrepancies in quoting the correct code of the Commissionerate

– reg.

Please refer to this office Trade Notice No.4/2007 dated l4/2/2007 wherein it was advised to quote the l5 digit PAN based STC and correct location code in the TR-6 challan and GAR –7 Challan . However, It is noticed that while paying the Service Tax, a number of assessees are quoting wrong code of Commissionerate, in the TR-6 and GAR –7 Challans (i.e the code of other Commissionerates) and the banks are feeding this wrong code in the EASIEST System. . This happens more often when taxpayer is an assessee, both in Central Excise as well as Service Tax.

It is once again emphasized that correct code of Commissionerate may be quoted in TR-6 and GAR – 7 Challans for proper account of the tax paid.
